Patron Saint Festival in Tepetlixpa Ends in Tragedy
During the patron saint festivities in the town of Tepetlixpa, State of Mexico, a tragic accident occurred when a van loaded with pyrotechnics exploded. The explosion resulted in the death of one person and left 13 others injured.
Local Civil Protection shared the incident on their social networks, stating that the explosion occurred early Wednesday morning while rockets were being handled during the celebration. Emergency and civil protection teams, along with paramedics, responded to the scene. Some of the injured were transferred to nearby hospitals with serious injuries.
The explosion also caused material damage, damaging at least three vehicles, homes, and commercial businesses in the vicinity. The area was cordoned off by municipal police, and emergency teams continued debris removal and assisted those affected.
