First case of monkeypox registered in Curaçao

The first case of monkey pox (Monkeypox) has been registered in Curaçao. The Ministry of Health announced this on Tuesday afternoon (local time).

It concerns a person who has recently been abroad. The first monkey pox test was positive. To be absolutely sure, a second test will take place in a laboratory, the ministry reports. The infected person has been placed in isolation.

This is the first recorded infection of monkey pox in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. One person has already tested positive in the French part of Sint Maarten.
