First contact with the Honor Magic Vs, the folding mobile seeks to compete with the Galaxy Fold

by time news

Honor is going to launch in February, the Honor Magic Vsthe equivalent of the Samsung Galaxy Fold, which we have already been able to briefly test, and OPPO, the Find N2 Flip, a shell-type model that, in this case, seeks to compete with the Z Flip model; also manufactured by the South Korean firm.

The Honor Magic VS is equipped with an external 6.45-inch OLED screen, with a screen/body ratio of 90%, and an internal 7.9-inch screen with a ratio of 86%, both with a refresh rate of 90 and 120 hertz, respectively.

Magic vs. is slightly wider than the Fold, so the outer screen is not so narrow, and is more functional, while the inner screen is also a bit bigger accordingly. Despite having a larger screen, thanks to the fact that they have innovated in the materials used in the hinge, they have achieved a contained weight of 261 grams, two less than the Fold, and a thickness of 14.5 mm. In the hand it feels surprisingly light compared to its size. The innovation is found in the hinge that has gone from being made up of 92 components to only 4.

Another of the reasons for the lightness of Magic Vs is that does not have any water resistance certification, the folding ones are not usually resistant to dust, but they are to water, so they have sacrificed this functionality in exchange for greater lightness. The new hinge has been designed with a closing precision of 0.1 millimeters, which means that if we put a piece of paper inside the closed phone, it will make contact with its entire surface, and the phone will stay if we lift it by holding the paper, something that we have been able to verify.

As for the cameras, the Magic Vs has a triple rear set which includes a 54MP main lens with f/1.9 aperture, a 50MP ultra-wide angle and macro lens with f/2.0 aperture, and an 8MP 3X optical zoom camera with f/2.4 aperture. The video features 10-bit 4K video resolution at 60fps. Finally, the front camera is 16MP with f/2.45 aperture.

When it comes to performance, the Honor Magic Vs 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform, featuring 1 x 3.0GHz Cortex-X2, 3 x 2.5GHz Cortex-A7 and 4 x 1.8GHz Cortex-A5 CPUs, and an Adreno 730 GPU. Additionally, it comes with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage, although we do not know the final configuration that will arrive in Spain.

The 5000 mAh battery is divided into two blocks, and it is the largest that we are going to find in a folding. In addition, it has 66W fast charging Honor SuperCharge technology. Finally, the sound is another of its strong points, since it is certified by IMAX Enhanced.

This is the OPPO

OPPO for its part, will launch globally next year the OPPO Find N2 Flip, the equivalent of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, which we have been able to see during its Inno Day. The terminal has a 4300 mAh battery and a chipset MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ customized to improve energy consumption.

Its 6.7-inch AMOLED folding screen has a 90Hz refresh rate and a high aspect ratio. Oppo has strived to make the nearly invisible crease on the Oppo Find N2 Flip’s internal display a smooth and seamless user experience. The exterior is the largest we’ve seen on a clamshell phone to date, making it more functional.

The cameras are the weak point of this type of phones, whose objective is to reduce the size as much as possible, rather than photography, which is why it only has a 64-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel secondary camera.
