First Defamation Case Against Chat GPT; Australian mayor ready for action

by time news

Australia: Australian mayor is ready to file a defamation case against Chat GPT. Mayor Brian Hood has said he will take OpenAI to court if it does not correct Chat GPT’s false claim that it took bribes.

Brian Hood is the elected Mayor of Hepburn Shire. Mayor’s complaint is that Chat GPT has described him as a criminal in the foreign bribery case scandal. When the people’s representatives brought the incident to the attention of the mayor, he decided to take legal action.

Brahan’s lawyer said they had sent a letter to OpenAI on March 21 expressing their concerns. In the letter, it was informed that 28 days time has been given to correct the allegations against the Mayor and if it is not resolved within that time, a defamation case will be filed.

But OpenAI has yet to respond to Brahan’s letter, lawyers said. This would be the first defamation case against Chat GPT if Mayer were to take legal action.
