BOLZANO. First he tried to steal beer cans and other goods from the shelves of a supermarket, then, once reached by the police officers, he reacted by kicking and punching them and threatening to kill them. Result: the 29-year-old young man, of Moroccan origin, was arrested for theft and resisting a public official and held at the Police Headquarters awaiting the direct trial.

The police commissioner of the Province of Bolzano, Paolo Sartori, in consideration of the seriousness of what happened, issued an expulsion order against the man, which will become effective once the subject is released from prison.

It all happened in Bolzano yesterday afternoon, when the man was noticed hiding beer cans and other goods in his backpack. He passed the checkout counters of the Despar supermarket on Via Cesare Battisti when he was stopped by the store manager.

When he saw that the director was calling 112, he tried to stop him, even with threats. Then he ran away but was intercepted by the officers shortly after.

“Yet another attack on a Police Officer during an intervention, the umpteenth, now, that has occurred in recent times in Bolzano – highlighted with regret the police commissioner Sartori –. It is unacceptable that those who represent the State, in enforcing the law, should systematically suffer insults and violence. For this reason it was decided to proceed with the arrest and removal from our country of those who have repeatedly demonstrated, even violently, that they do not respect its laws and institutions”.
