jpnn.comSENTUL – PT PLN together with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) held an electric conversion motorbike race at the Sentul International Karting Circuit, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday (22/9).
The racing event titled PLN EV Conversion Race 2024 is one of the government’s campaigns to create energy resilience and achieve the mission of reducing carbon emissions.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana said the government continues to look for two things.
“First, putting energy security in place, second, reducing emissions, and this needs to be done simultaneously. The activities being carried out now are a combination of both,” said Dadan Kusdiana.
“We use electricity for vehicles, the electricity comes from domestic power plants, by using electricity, emissions can be reduced,” he added.
The racing event will take place over two rounds, namely on Sunday, September 22 and October 13, 2024.
This electric motorcycle conversion race is the first in the world and has adopted the technical regulations for electric motorcycle racing in accordance with the regulations of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI).
The 2024 PLN EV Conversion Race consists of two classes, EV Race, which is a 12-lap race with a 2kW electric motorbike, and the EV Endurance category which tests the endurance of the 2kW electric conversion motorbike for 2 hours on the racing circuit.
