“It won’t stay that wonderful.”

Jacqueline Beyer

Head of the AMS Salzburg

But it won’t stay that way. Beyer sees the decline in job vacancies (by 22 percent to 8,893 at the end of September) as the first indications that the labor market is deteriorating. “I don’t want to paint a pessimistic picture, but such movements, especially in temporary employment and the slight increase in young unemployed people, are always harbingers in this direction.” What surprises the AMS boss is above all the decline in vacancies in the catering industry – which is probably due to the shoulder season.

The boys get a lot of attention

A lot of attention is paid to the boys. Currently, 335 apprenticeship seekers can choose from 1,334 positions. So everyone can choose from almost four open apprenticeships. The discrepancy is most blatant in Lungau: an apprenticeship seeker was registered for September and was able to choose from 85 open positions; in Pongau the ratio was 19:240 and in Pinzgau 39:358. There are around 250 different apprenticeships to choose from in the state – soon also in nursing. “I think this will last until spring,” says Beyer.

Several career fairs in the fall

The variety of possibilities will be highlighted, among other things, by the second “Teaching Experience World” in Hallein on October 12th. The Career Information Exchange will be held in Tamsweg on October 13th. The Career Information Fair (BIM) will conclude from November 23rd to 26th at the Salzburg Exhibition Center.
