SALUD MENTAL ESPAÑA participates in the first international meeting of PROSPECT facilitators
EUFAMI has organized this meeting, whose objective has been to share knowledge, experiences and good practices in mental health.
SALUD MENTAL ESPAÑA has participated in the international meeting of facilitators of the PROSPECT Program, hosted by EUFAMI (European Federation of Associations of Relatives of people with mental health problems) in Madrid. The conferences, lasting three days, were held on April 20, 21 and 22, and brought together a total of 66 personas (12 of them linked to the associative movement of SALUD MENTAL ESPAÑA) belonging to 11 European countries (among them, Spain, Croatia, Slovenia, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Sweden or Finland).
The objective of this meeting has been share and exchange knowledge, experiences and good practices in mental health, meet other facilitators of the PROSPECT Program in Europe, exchange attitudes and values, and listen to the needs of other people. In addition, the participating people have been able, throughout these days, to understand and reinforce the key concepts of the PROSPECT method, as well as its philosophy and approach, and practice facilitation skills and the four modules of the training.
PROSPECT search break the circle of social isolation of people with mental health problems, awakening the necessary skills to know how to live with this health problem and recover their quality of life. Its objective is to strengthen the rights of people with mental health problems, and promote their participation and empowerment, and that of their families, in their recovery processes. It also aims to facilitate a change of role between the professionals in the interventions.
Nel Gonzalez Zapico, President of SALUD MENTAL ESPAÑA, made an intervention by way of presentation, highlighting the importance of the PROSPECT training programs within the Confederation, and Jose Luis Mendez, social worker of SALUD MENTAL ESPAÑA, highlighted the importance of jointly carrying out the four modules of the program (people with their own experience, family members and environment, professionals and the common module).
The training presents a highly innovative character, as well as the possibility of generating a space for the exchange of experiences and opinions in a climate of respect among all the people involved. Since its launch, SALUD MENTAL ESPAÑA has become a example of good practices for the rest of the countries who have developed this training, through their territorial implementation model, which ensures the implementation of each and every one of the four modules at the same time. Also through the creation of training for facilitators that guarantees the correct transmission of knowledge in the development of this program, something new for the rest of Europe.
