Kerala Awards, the highest award given by the state government for the first time on the model of Padma Awards, has been announced. M.T. Kerala Jyoti Award to Vasudevan Nair (Literature).

Omcheri N.N. Pillai (Art, Drama, Social Service, Public Service), T. Madhava Menon (Civil Service, Social Service), Mammootty (Art) for Kerala Prabha Award and Dr. Satyabhamadas Biju(Dr. Biju) (Science), Gopinath Mutukad (Social Service, Arts), Kanai Kunhiraman (Art), Kochousef Chittilapally (Social Service, Industry), M.P. Parameswaran (Science, Social Service) and Vijayalakshmi Muralidharan Pillai (Vaikkam Vijayalakshmi) (Art) were also awarded the Kerala Shri Award.
