First Provincial Workshop on Female Leadership in Politics in Boké (Press Release)

As part of initiatives aimed at strengthening the participation of women in Guinean political life, the first provincial workshop of the campaign “Coaching Women Leaders and Engaging the Nation” began this morning under the chairmanship of Mr. Governor from the Boké region, in the presence of several local officials and partners. This workshop will be held in Boké on September 16 and 17, 2024. Coordinated by Guinean Women in Politics (LGP)and supported by the United States Embassy in Conakry and the Fulbright Program, this event marks an important step in promoting female leadership at the local and regional levels.

Under the direction of Dr. Arnaud KurzeFulbright specialist, and in collaboration with senior members of the LGP, under the leadership of its President, Makale Camarathis workshop is part of an ambitious training project aimed at a cohort of more than 100 women from different regions of Guinea. The objective is to strengthen their skills in strategic communication, leadership, negotiation and resource management, while introducing them to new technologies and digital intelligence.

During these two days, participants will explore essential themes for newly elected officials and civil servants, including:

  • Strengthening leadership and communication skills: Analysis of obstacles to women’s political participation and development of strategies to overcome these challenges.
  • Fundraising and Networking : Introduction to resource mobilization techniques and case studies of successful campaigns.
  • Public policies and digital technologies : Impact of social media and digital tools on political mobilization.

The workshop began with an official welcome, followed by a welcoming address by the President from LGP. Mr. Governor from the Boké region spoke to reaffirm the importance of strengthening the capacities of women in the political sphere.

This event is part of a series of strategic workshops initiated by LGPwhose role is fundamental in promoting female leadership throughout the country. LGP is at the origin of this series of training courses intended not only for the municipal branches of Conakry, but also for the Administrative Regions. The objective of these training courses is to ensure greater representation of women in decision-making bodies, by overcoming the institutional and structural obstacles that hinder their access to leadership positions.
