The two Waren youth clubs can look forward to a total of 500 euros for their work, because this sum came from the sale of cakes at the first citizens and family festival in the butterfly house in the west settlement. The live music by Brian Honig and the program by ventriloquist “Herr Schott” with his puppet Lotta and the talking barrel Antonn proved to be a magnet for visitors. The Mecklenburg bakeries provided most of the cake for this good cause.

Format is to be expanded in the coming year

The festival was initiated with a colorful program for the whole family by the SPD local association. He had brought many other clubs and associations, such as the Awo and the Left Party, to the butterfly house. The THW was also on site with an equipment truck. “More actors would have liked to be involved,” but the idea came up too quickly, SPD leader Matthias Lippert told the Nordkurier. After this kick-off event, the plan is to stick to this format in the coming years and expand it.

The Bundestag member Johannes Arlt (SPD) also stopped by the butterfly house during his tour of Mirow, Röbel and Waren on May 1st and described the festival as a success and praised the commitment of the clubs and associations. “I think it’s great how peacefully people talk to each other here, and the hall is full.” That was a well-rounded, successful thing for the start, said the member of the Bundestag.
