Group BTOB member and musical actor Lee Chang-seop emphasized his affection for BTOB’s activities.
Lee Chang-seop held a showcase commemorating the release of his first solo album ‘1991’ at Blue Square in Yongsan-gu, Seoul at 4 pm on the 2nd.
Regarding the release of a solo album 12 years after his debut, Lee Chang-seop said, “Because BTOB activities took priority, the solo album was naturally put on the back burner. As I was filming musicals and filming for YouTube, there was no time left.”
‘1991’ is an album that captures the mindset that has finally become stronger and freer, starting from 1991, the year Lee Chang-seop was born, and moving forward without stopping. You can experience Lee Chang-seop’s expanded musical spectrum, which consists of a variety of genres, including rock, pop, punk, and house, as well as Lee Chang-seop’s proprietary ballad, which has been well-loved by the public.
The first title song, ’33’, is a song that contains the autobiographical story that 33-year-old Lee Chang-seop realized while looking back on the past. Lee Chang-seop took on the sole responsibility of writing the lyrics and conveyed the message, ‘You must move forward at every moment,’ and leads the pop rock genre with a simple yet appealing voice between a full guitar sound and a magnificent choir.
Lee Chang-seop said about this song, “It is a song that contains what I realized when I turned 33. It contains the message that today becomes a memory of tomorrow. It is a song that I hope people who listen to the song will think about a lot.” He added, “When asked what I would do if I could go back to the past, I said, ‘I would leave it as is.’” He further added, “I think the choice I made back then was the best I could have done.”
Another title song, ‘OLD TOWN’, is a city pop song that expresses memories reminiscent of Lee Chang-seop’s unique and poignant emotions. The combination of instrument sounds such as retro piano, funky guitar, and rhythmic drums will provide the pleasure of listening.
In addition, a total of 12 songs will be included in this first full-length album. Lee Chang-seop, who began his solo career in 2018 with the release of his first mini album ‘Mark’, has built up solid musicianship and experience with his deep voice, singing ability, and excellent genre digestion.
Regarding what he wants to show with this album, Lee Chang-seop said, “I will always be BTOB’s Lee Chang-seop, but I also want to show my potential as a solo singer.”
