FIRST SUSPECTED CASE OF MONKEYPOX IS ANALYZED IN ECUADOR
Through an official statement, the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) reported that the epidemiological alert has been activated after the first suspected case of monkeypox was detected in the city of Quito.
The suspect is a young male who would have traveled to Africa, however the affected person would not have a relationship with the outbreak registered in Europe, but he did present some symptoms related to this new disease.
According to the statement issued by the MSP, “the National Public Health Research Institute (INSPI) took the patient’s samples, with which the respective actions will be carried out to confirm or rule out monkeypox. The results will be ready next week.”
Currently, the affected person is in isolation and under epidemiological surveillance, as well as the people who had contact with him.
Some of the recommendations made by the Ministry of Public Health is to constantly wash your hands. If you have traveled to or had contact with people from countries that have cases of monkeypox, as soon as you have symptoms: wear a mask; go to the nearest health center wearing a face mask; and isolate yourself.
