Today, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Firuza Ibadova turned 70 years old, Day.Az reports with reference to Trend. Always a very good-natured stage master, she devoted about sixty years to creativity, development and promotion of national culture.

Firuza Ibadova was born on February 18, 1954 in Baku. Graduate of the Asaf Zeynalli Music College. She is the first student of the legendary performer, People’s Artist Shovket Alekperova.

At the age of 9, she was the leading soloist of the children’s choir “Byanovsha” of the Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Afsar Javanshirov of the Azerbaijan State Television. And at the age of 18 she became a soloist of the girls’ ensemble “Lala” of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev, and four years later she performed as part of the legendary ensemble “Dan Ulduzu” named after Gulara Aliyeva. At the age of 25 she became a soloist at the State Song Theater named after Rashid Behbudov.

Many were in love with her. From the memoirs of the head of VIA “Lala”, People’s Artist Dzheiran Gashimova: “Firuza Ibadova was a very attractive and beautiful girl, many fans followed her wherever she performed. There was even such an interesting case. During one of the tours, someone began to quit stones in the window of the room where we were sleeping then. It was a young man who came and said that Firuza had called him. To my surprise, “When?!” He answered with the lines that he heard at the concert, “Boy, come after the moon goes down.” It was a phrase from a folk song, which he accepted verbatim (laughs). Before each concert, I instructed her not to look at the audience during the performance, but to stand facing me, directing her gaze at me. Firuza Ibadova performed all the love songs soul and that’s why they were very sincere and touching.”

For many years, through the Azerbaijan State Touring and Concert Association, she performed concert programs in various cities of the former USSR, in more than 30 countries around the world, performing Azerbaijani folk songs and works of famous composers. Repeatedly became a laureate of international competitions. In particular, in 1984-1985 she was a diploma winner at the XII World Festival in Moscow and a laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize.

A particularly significant event in his creative life was participation in the opening of the Vagif Mausoleum and the “Vagif Poetry Days” in Shusha, which remained the most vivid memory.

Firuza Ibadova: “On January 14, 1982, the grand opening of the Vagif Mausoleum took place in Shusha with the participation of the leader of Azerbaijan, the great leader Heydar Aliyev and famous cultural and artistic figures. This was a very significant event in the life of the republic, and in July-August of the same year, “Vagif Poetry Days”. The great leader Heydar Aliyev came with his family, his wife Zarifa Aliyeva and his son Ilham Aliyev – now our beloved president, who, like his father, always treats cultural and artistic figures with great respect and care. we took part in the opening of the bust of the poetess, daughter of the last Karabakh khan Mehtiguli Khan Khurshidbanu Natavan. Among the guests were prominent public figures, representatives of culture and art – Minister of Culture Zakir Bagirov, carpet weaver Latif Kerimov, opera vocalists Lutfiyar Imanov and Gyandab Guliyeva, mugham performers Arif Babayev and Teymur Mustafayev, ashug Adalat Nasibov and others. Then a concert program took place on the Dzhidyr-duzu plain, which I opened with the performance of the folk song “Bakhchada gular”. I was the youngest among the masters of art, and it was a great honor for me to open the concert. There were many outstanding performances. Particularly memorable was the touching duet performance of the then young Amalia Panakhova and Aliabbas Gadirov, who presented an excerpt from Samed Vurgun’s play “Vagif”, dedicated to the fate of Molla Panakh Vagif. And in conclusion, when Zeinab Khanlarova was performing with her ensemble, it suddenly began to rain and hail. But no one was going to hide from the vagaries of nature; on the contrary, everything was so beautiful against the backdrop of the beautiful mountains and atmosphere of Shushi, which even symbolized the stunning end of the festive evening. The Vagif Poetry Days lasted for a week, the entire city of Shusha was filled with the poetic spirit, there were many performances by young talents – performers, musicians, poets, writers, writers, readers, and guests from other republics. It was a great celebration of poetry. And in subsequent years, I took part in the Vagif Poetry Days with great pleasure.”

Since May 1989, the international festival “Khari Bulbul” began to be held with the participation of musicians from Japan, the USA, Turkey, Germany, Israel, Italy, Spain, Austria, Afghanistan, the union republics of the former USSR, which was considered one of the important cultural events not only in Azerbaijan, but also all over the world. For three years, concert programs took place in Shusha, Agdam, Barda, Agjabedi and Baku. At these events, Firuza Ibadova, who had already become famous, was the guest of honor and selected young talents.

During the difficult years for Azerbaijan in the early 90s, she took an active part in the public life of the country. She dedicated the project “Pain of Martyrs”, implemented by the Ministry of Culture and State Television, to the memory of the victims of January 20th in the name of independence of Azerbaijan – this composition was included in the golden fund of national art. She performed concerts in military units, in front of soldiers during the first Karabakh war.

Firuza Ibadova is also a performer of works by classical Azerbaijani composers and regularly participates in state events. In 2016, she became the musical director of the Oyug studio of the State Puppet Theater named after Abdulla Shaig. She was a volunteer at the “Kharybulbul” festival, held within the framework of the “Year of the City of Shusha” and “The Year of Heydar Aliyev” with the team of the Gymnasium of Arts at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory.
