” Stop talking ! Fishmonger! A financial penalty was imposed on MP RN Jocelyn Dessigny for having called the leader of the LFI group Mathilde Panot a “fishmonger” in the hemicycle, the presidency of the National Assembly said on Tuesday.

The member for Val-de-Marne had solemnly demanded this sanction Thursday, denouncing a “sexist” insult and “unacceptable in our Assembly”. She recalled that she had already been targeted by the same insult in 2021 from a Macronist deputy, Pierre Henriet, also penalized.

The sanction pronounced by the presidency of the Assembly against the deputy of Aisne Jocelyn Dessigny is a “call to order with entry in the minutes”. It automatically entails a “deprivation, for one month, of a quarter of the parliamentary allowance allocated to the deputy” according to the rules of the institution.

“Class contempt”

“It’s good” but “it’s the minimum, it’s case law”, reacted Mathilde Panot. “If you allow sexist insults full of class contempt to pass through the National Assembly, that means that in all of society, you let it happen”.

The MP for Val-de-Marne posted a screenshot of the official written report of the session at which the insult was launched on Twitter last week. “When Le Pen does not write them their speeches for the microphones, the RN deputies still show their true face”, she had commented.

After the request for sanction formulated by the deputy LFI, Jocelyn Dessigny had asked to speak in the hemicycle: “If I could upset Madame Panot, I apologize, my words exceeded my thoughts”.
