Fisi criticizes unified school timetable: “It would be the end of winter sports” – News

BOLZANO. “The unified school timetable in the form proposed by the provincial government of Bolzano would mean the end of winter sports”. This is what the Regional Committee Fisi Alto Adige claims, which fears the impact on winter sports of a single school timetable, from 7:30 to 14:30. “If school ends at 14:00 or 14:30, it is no longer possible, for example, to do a ski training – observes Markus Ortler, president of the Committee, according to whom young athletes could lose the opportunity to train, since “the facilities close at 16:00, and there is no more time to really train”.

The problem also affects other disciplines such as ski jumping and biathlon, where training after sunset becomes impossible. Ortler understands the parents’ desire for a unified school timetable and the efforts of the provincial government, but warns: “These changes should not be at the expense of voluntary associations and children.” Ortler concludes with an appeal for sports federations to be involved in meetings on the topic: “So far we have not been involved in the discussion. We believe it is important to hear our point of view as well.” The Committee also proposes to recognize sports training as an integral part of the school system, suggesting closer collaboration between school and sports.
