The international rating agency Fitch has affirmed Russia’s credit rating at “BBB”. The agency’s analysts proceed in the baseline scenario from the fact that tensions on the border between Russia and Ukraine will not escalate into a military clash, according to a press release from Fitch, published on Friday evening, December 3.

“The strategic calculation of the invasion remains unclear, and our baseline scenario still does not consider an escalation of the situation in a full-scale war with Ukraine,” the report says. At the same time, information about the concentration of the Russian military on the border with Ukraine increases “geopolitical and sanctions risks”, Fitch analysts write.

Media: US intelligence warns of Russian plans to invade Ukraine

According to American intelligence, Russia is planning an invasion of Ukraine, possibly as early as 2022. This was reported hours earlier by the AP news agency, citing an unnamed source in the United States presidential administration. According to the agency, intelligence reports indicate that up to 175,000 Russian servicemen should be involved in the operation.

The Washington Post reported similar data. The attack can take place in January-February 2022 simultaneously in several directions: from the north of the annexed Crimea, through the separatist-controlled territories in the east and from the northern border of Ukraine, the publication wrote, citing information from American intelligence.
