From August 24 to 31, Sofia will host the first World Championship for boys under 17 years of age. The International Federation of Volleyball (FIVB) organized for the first time a battle for the title in this age category, and the historic host was entrusted to Bulgaria.

The top 16 teams on the planet kick off the race for the world title on Saturday, with 8 matches scheduled on the opening day. The marathon starts at 11 a.m. and the last fight starts at 8 p.m.

The matches will be available to watch for free on the FIVB platform.

For 8 days, the capital’s “Levski Sofia” and “Hristo Botev” halls will host young talents from five continents. There is only one day off in the program – August 28, which occurs between the round of 16 and the quarterfinals.

The journey of the 16 teams begins in the group stage, where they are divided into four streams of four teams each.

Bulgaria is in Group A, which includes Mexico, Chinese Taipei and another European representative – Spain. Three teams from Africa appear in Group B – Egypt, Libya and Tunisia, and a representative of Asia forms the four – Iran. Group C, which includes the South American representative Argentina, the European Italy and two from the North American Volleyball Confederation – Cuba and Puerto Rico – looks fierce in terms of competition. Group D is also varied, bringing together two national teams from South America – Brazil and Chile, one from Europe – Belgium – and another from Asia – Uzbekistan.

FORMAT
