Out of five candidates who asked to build Block VII of the Kozloduy NPP, only one company was shortlisted, and that is Hyundai. This is clear from the announcement of “Kozloduy NPP – New Powers”, which organizes the selection of the builder.
On January 19, the company published an announcement for expression of interest in participating in the procedure for determining a short list of potential construction companies. In it, the companies, candidates for engineering, construction, supply and commissioning of a nuclear power plant at the approved site in Kozloduy, with AP1000® technology, had to be ranked. The deadline for expressions of interest was 02.02.2024.
The candidates who showed interest are: Fluor BV, Bechtel Nuclear Power Company Limited, Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co.,Ltd., a consortium with leader China National Nuclear Corporation Overseas and partner China Energy Engineering Group, Tianjin Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. , China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited.
By order of the executive director of Kozloduy NPP – New Capacities, a committee was appointed to requalify the candidates who expressed interest in the period February 8-12, 2024.
“After checking each candidate for availability of engineering-technical and construction experience and expertise; economic and financial capacity and availability of all required documents submitted, formed and completed, according to the requirements specified in the announcement for expressions of interest, the commission proposed for a short list of potential construction companies (candidates) for engineering, construction, delivery and commissioning of a nuclear power plant at the approved site in Kozloduy, with AP1000® technology, compiled on the “pass/fail” principle: Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.”, said in the announcement of “NPP “Kozloduy – New capacities”.
By decision of the board of directors of Kozloduy NPP – New Powers EAD, the committee’s report was accepted and approved.
