Quetta: Five bullet-riddled bodies were found tied to an electric pole in the town of Chaghi in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Friday, the Express Tribune reported, citing officials. The place where the bodies were found is close to Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan and Iran. The bodies found by the police appear to have been brutally killed. He said the bodies were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, Chaghi, where their identification is now awaited. The Express Tribune reported, citing sources, that the victims are suspected to be former Afghan military personnel who were abducted by a terrorist group known for its activities in the region. The group, which has long been a source of tension between Iran and its neighbors, was believed to be behind the assassination.

Express Tribune quoted police sources as saying that the body was taken to Civil Hospital Quetta for medico-legal formalities. However, the authorities are yet to establish whether there was any connection between the two horrific incidents.
Local authorities have begun to investigate the incident to find out what caused the killings. There are also unconfirmed reports of recovery by another body. However, those reports are yet to be confirmed by officials. The discovery of these bodies sent shock waves across the region, especially in areas close to the Afghan border. In particular, Balochistan has several violent groups that repeatedly launch attacks against state oppression, demand a greater share of the region’s resources and raise concerns about the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
