Five Guys Set to Make Its Debut in Portugal Next Year

by time news

When you go to a city abroad that you know has a Five Guys, does it become one of the must-visit restaurants? We have good news for true fans of the chain: the brand is preparing to open in Portugal during the next year.

In a recent interview for Bloomberg’s ‘The Pulse with Francine Lacqua’ program, John Eckbert, CEO of Five Guys in the UK and Europe, emphasized this intention and mentioned it could actually happen during the next year.

In the interview, it was mentioned that Lisbon is likely to be the city to welcome the burger and milkshake brand.

Talk about the possibility of Five Guys coming to Portugal started back in 2018. The Covid-19 pandemic ‘put the brakes’ on the planned expansion.

Seven years later, the first opening in the country may finally happen. The brand was founded in 1986 in Virginia, United States. It currently has nearly two thousand restaurants worldwide.

In an article for Esquire magazine, former U.S. President Barack Obama remarked that this was one of his favorite burger joints.
