Khartoum: Five people have been killed in a shooting by security forces on pro-democracy protesters in Sudan. Several people were injured. People took to the streets in protest across Sudan on Saturday against the seizure of power by the military.

Security forces opened fire on protesters in Khartoum and the nearby city of Ondurman. The Sudanese doctors’ committee said four people had been shot and one had died from inhaling tear gas. Sudanese police have denied reports that protesters opened fire on protesters.

The protesters attacked various police stations in Khartoum and destroyed several vehicles. Security forces said 39 policemen were injured.
