Theni – 5 new sub-stations have been set up in the district at a cost of Rs.75 crores to reduce the inconvenience of power consumers and ensure uninterrupted power supply.

Also capacity augmentation of 12 substations at a cost of Rs.25 crore has been completed. The board has ordered to provide uninterrupted electricity according to the population and number of residences in the district. For this, new sub-stations were set up in the districts. There are currently 17 substations in Theni district. More than 6 lakh electricity consumers are benefited in the district.

In this case, new sub-stations at a cost of Rs. 75 crore have been constructed and put into use in the towns of Kamayakoundanpatti, Devadhanapatti, Varushanadu, Kudalur and Jayamangalam. Also, 12 substations including 2 at Uthampalayam, 2 at Periyakulam, Weerapandi, Markayankottai, Kamachipuram, Bodi, K.Vilakku Antipatti have been increased in capacity at a cost of Rs.25 crore.

A power board official said, “The new substations came into use yesterday. The distribution capacity of 12 sub-stations which were already in use has been increased. As a result, the power supply has been facilitated without interruption.’, he said.
