by times news cr

(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 13 – Through the Rasff (Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed) alert system, French health authorities have communicated that they are investigating five probable cases of botulism linked to the consumption of canned garlic pesto. The product is called Pesto a l’ail des ours, of the O Ptitis Oignons brand, and all the jars have been recalled from the market. The Ministry of Health announced this on its website.
“Since the investigations carried out have shown that the artisanal production conditions do not guarantee the sterilization of the preserve, the French authorities have decided, as a precaution, to withdraw and recall all the jars produced (all production dates, all expiration dates) and a safety warning has also been issued”, it reads. From the information known, it would be about 600 jars.
Distribution is exclusively local but, in the notification, it is reported that the preserves of this pesto were sold directly to consumers only during some events and festivals in France.
The French authorities inform the other RASFF Member States that some buyers may probably reside abroad.
In case some consumers have bought the preserve, it is recommended not to consume this product. (ANSA).
