Fjällräven Classic to Proceed Despite Recent Stomach Bug Outbreak

Despite a recent stomach bug outbreak along the route and at the Kebnekaise mountain station, the organizers of the Fjällräven Classic have decided to proceed with the event. The Fjällräven Classic is a popular hiking event that runs between Nikkaluokta and Abisko in Sweden.

In a statement on the event’s website, the organizers stated, “Since no official restrictions have been issued by the authorities, we have decided to carry out the Fjällräven Classic, but with special measures to support the hikers.” These special measures include moving some of the collection points further away from the Swedish Tourist Association’s facilities, transporting portable toilets, and providing medical personnel at all collection points.

The stomach bug outbreak has led the Swedish Tourist Association to make changes as well. They have decided not to accept spontaneous visitors for some time in their stations and cabins along the trail, but only pre-booked guests. This is to prevent the further spread of the stomach bug.

The Fjällräven Classic is scheduled to run from August 11 to August 18 this year. Last year, the event saw around 2,000 participants from various countries. Despite the recent challenges, organizers are determined to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all hikers.
