The kick-off of this Fair, whose doors will be wide open to the public until the 22nd, was given in the presence of the governor of the province of Fkih Ben Salah, Mohamed Karnachi, the president of the commune, Rahhal El Mekkaoui, civil and military personalities and other figures from various backgrounds.
The Fair, which has taken up residence at the cultural complex of the city of Fkih Ben Salah and which is organized with the support of the Directorate of Books, Libraries and Archives, is part of the implementation of the strategy of supervisory ministry aimed at bringing books closer to the general public and encouraging a passion for reading at local and regional levels.
In a speech on the occasion of the opening of this literary event which is part of the annual program of regional book fairs, the regional director of Culture in Blessed Mellal-Khénifra, Lahcen Chorfi stressed that the supervisory ministry grants a crucial importance to books by offering the opportunity to writers, critics and researchers to share their works with the public, recalling that this fair, which has become an annual tradition perpetuated by the Ministry of Culture throughout the Kingdom, aims to promote and to anchor the culture of reading and learning.
Recalling the pioneering role of culture as a catalyst for development, the regional director highlighted the role of books in raising awareness and promoting cultural and social development.
This edition will see the organization of a series of cultural and scientific meetings and conferences which essentially aim to inform the general public of the latest works and publications of writers and poets from the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, he said.
For his part, Mr. El Mekkaoui welcomed all the partners who contributed to the choice of the province of Fkih Ben Salah, cultural capital of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, indicating that the province of Fkih Ben Salah has a solid cultural capital represented by renowned writers who honor the province.
The program for this edition, organized in partnership with the prefecture of the province of Fkih Ben Salah, the AREF, the provincial and municipal councils of Fkih Ben Salah, includes various cultural activities for children and young people, training workshops in the cultural fields , literary and artistic, as well as signing sessions and poetic readings. Visits to the various stands at the Book Fair are also offered to students, pupils and civil society actors.
This Fair aims to serve as a platform to promote the culture of books and reading to various audiences.
