TRENTO. The Brenner Motorway is equipped with a fleet of six drones which will be further enriched and trains 24 of its employees in their use for infrastructure inspection and, in perspective, also for mobility management. It also does so by focusing on research at a European level: a few days ago, the Company joined the European project “Scale”, which aims to further develop connected driving technology and applications”.

“The vast majority of road accidentslet’s talk about the 93%, it now depends on the human factoro”, says the CEO of Autostrada del Brennero Diego Cattoni in a note. “To reduce these numbers, the most useful investment is in technological innovation. Which allows us both to reach where man cannot, as in the case of drones. And to work on what is the driving of the future, autonomous driving: with the “Scale” project we will continue the path towards increasingly connected driving, of which we are already among the most advanced; with the systematic use of drones we will increase the safety of the highway and of the inspection personnel, while at the same time building an important heritage of digital data on the infrastructure”.

Two training sessions have already taken place in recent weeks, one on the Po and the other on the Colle Isarco viaduct. In the future, it will also be possible to use remotely piloted aircraft systems for arrive quickly at the scene of an accident and support the surveys.
