Flooding at South Korean mine car park: Many drowned

by time news

Up to 10 people have died as Typhoon Hinnamnor raged through South Korea, authorities said yesterday. The southeastern port city of Pohang was hit hard this week after giant waves and heavy rain hit the southern coast. The underground parking lot of an apartment building was flooded and the area submerged. The people there were stuck in the flood water that was more than a person’s height. South Korea’s Central Disaster and Safety Management Office said seven bodies had been recovered. Two people were rescued from the car park alive. A local media report said that the nine went to rescue their cars from the floods caused by heavy rains and suddenly they drowned. Cyclone Hinnamnor damaged more than 12,000 houses and buildings.
