Klagenfurt, August 6th, 2023 (KAP) After the devastating rains of the past few days, which resulted in severe flooding and landslides in large parts of Carinthia, Caritas Carinthia is helping particularly affected families with 100,000 euros from its disaster fund. At the same time, she is asking for donations so that she can continue to help quickly and unbureaucratically.

The disaster fund is there “to be able to distribute quick and unbureaucratic emergency aid to families that are particularly affected,” says Caritas director Ernst Sandriesser. After the catastrophic storm broke out on Friday, he has been in close contact with the mayor and parish networks of affected regions in order to actively offer help from Caritas.

“We are a ‘second-hour’ aid organization when the situation on the ground and the extent of the damage are clearer. However, it is important that affected communities know now that they can turn to us if families have been particularly hard hit.” , said the Caritas director.

Sandriesser thanked the emergency services for the excellent work and appealed to the solidarity of the people of Carinthia: “The more donations we receive, the more we can help quickly and unbureaucratically. The support goes directly to those affected!”

(Donations: Caritas, Kärntner Sparkasse, IBAN: AT40 2070 6000 0000 5587, donation purpose “Katastrophenfonds Inland” or online: www.caritas-kaernten.at)
