Royal Family Welcomes New Addition: Flora Vesterberg Announces Pregnancy
A new member is set to join the British royal family, as Flora Vesterberg, granddaughter of Princess alexandra, has announced she is expecting her first child. The art historian shared the joyous news on Instagram on January 19th.
Flora Vesterberg, 31, and her husband, Swedish financier Timothy Vesterberg, are “truly over the moon” to be expecting, according to a post accompanying a new photograph on social media. The couple, who married in 2020, will welcome their first child, who is poised to become 62nd in the line of succession to the throne.
The expectant mother is the granddaughter of Princess Alexandra, a first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth. This forthcoming baby will be Princess Alexandra’s first great-grandchild. A photograph shared alongside the declaration showed the couple standing in a green landscape, with Flora gently holding a hand to her growing bump.
Flora is an art historian currently pursuing her PhD. She publicly shared in May 2025 that she received an autism diagnosis at age 30, detailing her journey in a personal essay for British Vogue. “earlier this year, I was diagnosed with autism,” she wrote. “I’ve struggled quietly with the challenges of my neurodiversity since childhood, but am now also able to perceive its strengths.” She described feeling “empowered by having a framework with which to understand my experiences and sensitivities,” and experiencing “a sense of relief as well as validation” following her diagnosis.
The couple was last seen publicly together at a Christmas lunch hosted by King Charles at Buckingham Palace on December 16, 2025, and again on December 19, 2024.Flora’s position in the line of succession currently stands at 61st,following her father,James Ogilvy,and brother,Alexander Ogilvy. The arrival of her child will shift her position to 62nd in line to the throne.
