In the war between the English and French (Crimean War), the young nursing pioneer had the opportunity to demonstrate her ideas. In the front line, the soldiers were ravaged by a cholera epidemic.
Florence managed to prevail over the doctors who underestimated her ideas. In doing so, she established the rules that today govern hospitals and save lives: she ordered airing, cleaning the hospital rooms, potentiating the laundry, and promoting the preparation of healthy food for the patients. The change was amazing!
Upon her return from the war, Florence took over Saint Thomas Hospital, where she founded the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery in 1960.
Today she is not only a woman admired for all her altruistic work. Florence Nightingale showed us that love and the decision to follow our dreams will always be the perfect path to follow, and that it will change the world around us for the better.
