The 26th regular investigator set the condition for the defendant not to approach Mr. Grammenos at a distance of less than 50 meters.
On leaving the investigator’s office, Konstantinos Floros stated the following: “As a son at that moment and driven by emotion, I thought I did the right thing. But I made an absolute mistake, this behavior is not appropriate for a Greek member of parliament in the premises of the parliament”.
How we got to the punches in the Parliament – Regulation change is coming
The defense attorney of Constantinos Floros, Vasso Pantazi, stated the following: “Justice knows how to evaluate the facts, to get to the bottom of the real behaviors and incidents. In a very human way of approach, the lady investigator and the lady prosecutor pointed out to him that such behavior is not understood under the institutional status of a member of parliament. Mr. Floros has understood that such behavior does not befit his institutional status”.
The Chronicles
The unprecedented scene of beating took place at noon on Wednesday (24/04) outside the Plenary Chamber of the Parliament. After an intense argument, the former “Spartan” and current independent MP Konstantinos Floros beat the Hellenic Solution MP Vassilis Grammenos.
“I happened to get out a few seconds after the violent incident. I saw a deputy lying on the floor and some people trying to pick him up. On his nose the hit mark I can tell it was deformed, his nose had changed color. The dialogues were not noticed at least by me. Brute force has no place in the temple of democracy. Such incidents are absolutely condemnable. I don’t know if the incident was caused by a fall. I saw that his nose was deformed,” said ND MP Christos Boukoros, an eyewitness to the incident.
In photos from the corridors of the Parliament, it appears that the Hellenic Solution MP has fallen to the ground and bystanders are rushing towards the two men to keep them at a distance.
The unprecedented episode in parliamentary history took place during the debate on the lifting of the immunity of Kyriakos Velopoulos. According to the current independent and former MP of the Spartans, Konstantinos Floros, there had been a vulgar attack against him by the Hellenic Solution MP.
The perpetrator of the attack was brought in by the Parliament guard, taken to GADA and arrested, while shortly after 18:30 he was taken to Evelpidon. The accused member of parliament is facing a felony.
The victim was first taken to the Parliament clinic and then to the hospital with a facial fracture.
