Flu wave continues: more and more people are reporting complaints

Last week, 70 people per 100,000 Dutch people reported to their GP with flu-like symptoms.

There has been an official flu epidemic in the Netherlands for a week now. The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) speaks of an epidemic if more than 58 out of 100,000 people go to their GP with complaints that are reminiscent of the flu and 10 percent of the samples examined contain the influenza virus.

According to Nivel, significantly more samples that GPs take from patients with complaints currently contain the flu virus. Last week 98 samples were taken, the influenza virus (the flu) was found in more than a third.

Corona in RS-virus

The corona virus was found slightly more often than in the previous Nivel report, last week. General practitioners also found other viruses, such as the RS virus.
