Flyers and Rangers Set to Clash with Panarin’s Status in Question

A pivotal matchup between teh Philadelphia Flyers and the new York Rangers is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET, broadcasting on NBCSP and MSG. Both teams are navigating injury concerns as they prepare for this afternoon’s contest.

The Flyers have reshuffled their forward corps. Trevor Zegras, Christian Dvorak, and Travis Konecny are anticipated to form the top line, while Carl Grundstrom, Sean Couturier, and Owen Tippett will comprise the second. The third line will consist of Matvei Michkov, Noah Cates, and Bobby Brink, with Nicolas Deslauriers, Rodrigo Abols, and Garnet Hathaway rounding out the forward group. Defensively, the Flyers will look to Cam York and Travis Sanheim to lead the way, supported by pairings of Emil Andrae and jamie drysdale, and Nick Seeler and Rasmus Ristolainen. In goal, the team will choose between and Vladar and Samuel Ersson. Several players are unavailable for selection, including Noah Juulsen, Egor Zamula, Nikita Grebenkin, and Denver Barkley as scratches, and Tyson Foerster sidelined with an upper-body injury.

The Rangers, with a 17-15-4 record, are facing uncertainty surrounding the availability of star forward Artemi Panarin. He missed Thursday’s 2-1 overtime victory against the St. Louis Blues due to illness, and his return remains uncertain. If Panarin is able to play, “it’s not clear which forward would come out of the Rangers lineup,” according to one source. The projected forward lines include Artemi PanarinVincent TrocheckJT Miller, Will CuylleMika ZibanejadAlexis Lafreniere, Gabe PerreaultNoah LabaTaylor Raddysh, and Brennan OthmannSam CarrickMatt Rempe. The defensive pairings are projected to be Vladislav Gavrikovbraden Schneider,Carson SoucyWill Borgen, and Matthew RobertsonScott Morrow. The Rangers will have a choice in net between Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Speedy. Conor Sheary, Urho Vaakanainen, and Jonny Brodzinski are listed as scratches, while Adam Fox (upper body) and adam Edstrom (lower body) are currently injured.

The lack of practice on Friday and the afternoon game schedule mean neither team will hold a morning skate. A senior official stated that Conor Sheary could be a potential replacement if Panarin returns, as it would allow the Rangers to maintain the integrity of their bottom two lines. Sheary previously skated on a line with Trocheck and Miller in St. louis.

This contest promises to be a hard-fought battle between two teams eager to solidify their positions in the Eastern Conference standings. The status of Panarin will undoubtedly be a key factor influencing the game’s outcome.
