Against the background of the shuffling in the industry, the leaders of the world’s airline industry gathered last Friday in London, on the occasion of the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2022 – for the first time not virtually since 2019. Skytrax, a British website that reviews and rates companies and airports, conducted more than 14 million customer surveys in more than 100 countries between September 2021 and August 2022, to find out who is the airline of choice for travelers around the world today.
Qatar Airways at the top
Qatar Airways topped the passenger satisfaction list this year, for the eighth time since the awards began in 1999. The Qatari airline collected more awards in other categories, including “Best Business Class”, “Best Business Class Seat” and “The Dining Lounge of The best business class.” Just two months ago, Qatar Airways reached first place in a similar ranking conducted by the website AirlineRatings.com.
The second place went to Singapore Airlines, and the third place went to the airline of the United Arab Emirates Emirates, which also picked up the titles “Best In-flight Entertainment”, “Best Economy Class”, “Best Catering in Economy Class” and “Best Premium Seat in Economy Class” tourists”.
The Japanese company ANA (All Nippon Airways) came in fourth place and was also awarded the title of “cleanest airline in the world” – something worthy of note in the post-Corona aviation world, when passengers are more sensitive to the issue of hygiene and cleanliness. In addition, the company won four more awards, including “Best Airline Services”.
Among the American airlines, Delta Airlines was the leading airline in the US, with six wins in different categories. Turkish Airlines was the leading airline in Europe and came in first place in four categories, including the title of “Best Airline in Europe”.
In the low-cost segment, Ryanair, the Irish airline, was awarded the title of “Best Low-Cost Company in Europe” for the first time. Last summer, when the aviation industry performed poorly, Ryanair emerged as one of the most reliable airlines in the region, thanks to relatively few cancellations and the “rescue” flights it offered in the months of July and August, to help people stuck due to cancellations by competing companies.
