TRANSPORTS – NextNorth started operating in Spain. The flying taxi company presented during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar has already announced its first flights and the first prices leave no room for doubt: it is an exclusive service accessible to very few people.

Flying taxis are already a reality in Spain. Electric Vertical Take-off and Landing Vehicles (EVTOL) have arrived in the Balearic Islands. The NextNorth company is at the origin of this innovation which will make it possible to quickly connect the islands to the mainland and, of course, to connect the different islands to each other.

EVTOLs are a new generation of aircraft that can take off and land vertically, like a helicopter, but are powered by electric motors instead of fossil fuels. These vehicles have the advantage of being quieter, cleaner and more economical than traditional helicopters.

According the official website, a 140 kilometer journey between Mallorca and Ibiza takes only 4 minutes. In comparison, the direct flight from Mallorca to Ibiza takes around 45 minutes.

NextNorth announced its first flights at a price of 3,900 dollars or 3,550 euros. This is the price for the whole taxi, with five seats available. Or 710 euros per person. According to the company, the service will be fully operational from June 25 and in the future it will strive to reduce the cost to 95 euros per seat. It will also offer more connections.

Although NextNorth presents itself as a flying taxi company, the first flights can be made with a Eurocopter AS350, a traditional light helicopter.
