antelope Gang Members Share Musical Memories and influences

Antelope gang’s Danger Dan and Panik Panzer reveal personal musical inspirations and memorable live experiences.

Tobi always listens to such strange modern music, where I don’t even know what that should be, and dresses too!” Panik Panzer noted about his brother. To stand out in the family,he embraced cardigans and pop music.

The third member of Antelope Gang, Kolja, wasn’t part of this specific conversation. Though, Danger Dan and Panik Panzer agreed that “dusty punk rock” best describes Kolja’s musical preferences. In his honor, they added “For a Woman” by Hans-A-Plast to their playlist. annette Benjamin, the band’s 1980s singer, later co-founded the supergroup The Benjamins wiht Drängsal and Charlotte Brandi, with whom antelope Gang has shared memorable evenings on tour.

danger Dan has long cited Groundation as the pinnacle of live concerts, a sentiment rooted in a supportive tour with the Californian reggae band in France. Panik Panzer leans more towards obscure crust-punk bands but also acknowledged the spectacle of Tyler the Creator’s recent tour, complete with dazzling light shows and illusions like rain.

The brothers recalled Danger Dan’s solo tour, where Panik Panzer made a memorable stage entrance as an astronaut. Theatrical elements like flamethrowers, knights, and aliens were all part of the act. If resources were limitless, Panik Panzer admitted he’d love to open an Antelope Gang show by arriving on an elephant or a horse.

These discussions about memorable experiences, including karaoke nights and flea market finds, were part of the FM4 favourite songs segment, where musicians share tunes that have impacted their lives. The program airs every Sunday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Radio FM4 and can be streamed via the FM4 Player.
