The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, charged this Sunday against the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. On December 5, the Ayuso accused the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, of “not caring about the Cercanías” after a train derailed at the Atocha station.

“Calm down President. Focus on building metro lines without demolishing anyone’s houses, since the Government of Spain is already taking care of the problems that the Madrid commuter network has,” Puente responded this Sunday on his Twitter profile.

The railway network in Madrid has suffered three mishaps in the last 15 days. Train circulation was partially interrupted this Friday from 00:50 a.m. until 06:44 a.m., when a Renfe Cercanías train that was traveling between the Airport-Príncipe Pío stations suffered an axis leaving the track at the entrance to the station. Atocha station, which forced circulation on a single track in the Atocha-Recoletos section.

Last Tuesday, after the second derailment on the eve of the beginning of the Constitution Bridge; That day a train on line C10 coming from Villalba left the track at around 2:20 p.m. when it was about to enter Atocha.

The first of these three incidents took place on November 26 when an Intercity train derailed. This meant that both Cercanías and other Renfe services were affected and provided service with delays until the solution that took place the next day.

The president of the Community of Madrid has not been the only one blocked on this social network. The delegate of Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility of the Madrid City Council, Borja Carabante, has also been blocked by the minister.

Carabante assured through his social networks that, no matter how much Puente blocks him, “we will continue to denounce the risk posed by derailments on Cercanías.” In addition, the minister has been criticized for having blocked the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, on his X account.

Marta Rivera, delegate of Culture, Tourism and Sports, has also shown on her account that she has been blocked by Puente and commented: “I wish Oscar Puente would dedicate the time he dedicates to blocking people on social networks to fixing the problems in Cercanías. If one day something serious happens, we will all regret it.”

Bolaños assures that “the financing that the PP Government had planned for Cercanías de Madrid was zero”

For his part, the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Félix Bolaños, responded this Saturday to the PP of Madrid for the criticism of lack of investment in the community’s Cercanías network after the third derailment in fifteen days, stating that the financing that the PP Government had planned was zero.

“I’m going to tell you what financing the PP Government had planned for Cercanías in Madrid. I’m going to finish very quickly: zero, zero financing, zero investment,” the minister stated in statements to the media.

The Minister of Education, Sciences and Universities of the Community of Madrid, Emilio Viciana, has responded by pointing out that he sees Bolaños’ words as “nonsense.” “When the Community of Madrid receives financing, it executes and manages those funds with maximum speed.” , the counselor insisted.

Puente’s response

To this, Óscar Puente has responded on the same social network by publishing a column written by Carlos Alsina in which he analyzes the reason for blocking this social network. “Just because you are a councilor, advisor or president does not exclude you from belonging to any of the categories mentioned in it. Twitter is not life. On Twitter you choose company,” he launched.
