The Federation of Business Organizations of Girona (FOEG) and PIMEC Girona they have agreed a joint list for the renewal of the plenary sessions of the Girona chambers of commercefor the elections scheduled for mid-September.
As a result of this agreement, Eduard Ayach and Joan Ribas will represent the FOEG in the Girona Chamber of Commerce, in the five chairs of the employers in the plenary, while Maria Rosa Agustí and Mireia García will represent PIMEC. The list is completed by Salvador Ferrer, as a shared candidate.
At the Chamber of Commerce of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, the FOEG has appointed Carme Hospital to take a place in the plenary, while PIMEC has chosen Joan Mestres. Finally, in Palamós Albert Gómez will represent FOEG and Sandra Roigé PIMEC.
The president of PIMEC Girona, Pere Cornellà, considers that this pact “exemplifies the unity of action of business sectors». For his part, the president of the FOEG, Ernest Plana, emphasizes that it is important that these positions are occupied by “people who are involved”.
The FOEG warns
However, despite the agreement, the FOEG warns that it could be the last year with a joint list for the chambers of commerce of the demarcation of Girona. From the employer’s point of view they should have more representation than PIMEC, especially in the Girona Chamber of Commerce, where they assure that FOEG should have four representatives and PIMEC one. “If we don’t go to elections, instead of a pact”, PIMEC internal sources say.
On the other hand, the Girona unions have already reached internal agreements to elect their 30 representatives to the Chamber of Girona. A list that should be made official from next June 20, when the Territorial Electoral Board meets.
The current president of the Girona Chamber of Commerce, Jaume Fàbrega, will stand for re-election. The organization assures that, at the moment, no one else has made public their intention to run for the presidency.
