Three years have passed today, Friday, October 25, 2024, since Fofi Gennimata passed away after a long battle with cancer.
It is noted that a memorial service was held a few days earlier at the First Cemetery of Athens, where relatives, friends and fellow travelers from PASOK attended.
It is recalled that Fofi Gennimata was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. Thirteen years later, on October 11, 2021, the disease returned and she was admitted to “Evangelismos” hospital. First he withdrew from the race to claim the leadership of the party, in the party’s internal elections at the time.
Just two weeks later, on October 25, she breathed her last in hospital. Her funeral was held on October 27, 2021, with active minister honors and she was buried in the Gennimata family tomb.

Message from Nikos Androulakis:
On this day, three years ago, we said goodbye to our Fofi. A remarkable woman, a real-life fighter who taught dignity in her political journey and in the personal, unequal battle she fought.
Fofi is not here.
But this is his personal and political example as an indelible legacy of strength, contribution and struggle, but also as an insurmountable source of inspiration for us all, in his faction. A faction that kept him standing in his most difficult years.
