The European Space Agency (ESA) plans to launch this Saturday from Cape Canaveral in Florida (USA) the space telescope Euclid, destined to unravel the nature of two of the greatest enigmas of the universe, dark matter and dark energy. Although no one has ever seen them, these mysterious forces together make up 95% of the cosmos. Scientists are convinced of its existence by its gravitational effects on ordinary matter, which we can see, and by the accelerated expansion of the universe.
To achieve its goal, the satellite will observe some 2 billion galaxies up to 10 billion light-years away to create the largest and most accurate three-dimensional map of the universe ever made.
