Classes at the M.D. Atrog school in Givat Ze’ev began today (Tuesday) at 8:45 a.m. following violence by parents towards a teacher. In addition, the Teachers’ Union will hold an informational meeting in the first class of classes. A complaint was submitted to the police with a request for an expulsion order against the parents.
These are two different incidents of verbal assault by parents of a first grade student in which they threatened their son’s teacher, one took place last week, and the other this week. Both took place in front of parents and other students. In the incident last week, the father of the family was removed by the counselor and principal of the school, and in the second incident the parents waited with the educator until her husband picked her up from school.
Chairman of the Teachers’ Union branch in Jerusalem, Barnet Golan Yosobush: “The Teachers’ Union strongly condemns the incident. Without the parents’ respect and trust in the teaching staff, there is no education! We have zero tolerance for violence and will take a hard line against any case.”
This is the 16th time this year that the Histadrut Histadrut or the teachers’ organization has suspended classes following a case of violence against teaching staff.
