Moshe Bogi Ya’alon, who served as Defense Minister and was even the 17th Chief of Staff, calls on the police on his Twitter account this morning (Tuesday) to refuse an order.

“Protect your policemen, from his orders”

“Commissioner of the Israel Police, we saw the policemen in all their glory, allowing a protest in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa, as befits a democratic country. Remember that there are orders that have a black flag flying over them. It is not your fault that a minister, who is a convicted criminal, was placed above you. Protect your policemen from his orders” .

The tweet follows the demand of the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir to approve the use of measures to disperse demonstrations and make arrests also in left-wing demonstrations.

As I recall, in 2012 Naftali Bennett was interviewed by Nissim Mashal. During the interview, Bennett was asked whether in the event of the evacuation of settlements he would carry out the order or refuse. Bennett replied that he would not call for the refusal of an order, but personally he would not be able to carry it out and would ask his commanders to be released from the mission. Following his statement, at the time Ya’alon attacked Bennett.

Ben Gvir responded to Ya’alon’s words and tweeted: “A disgruntled man who was ousted from his throne, a serial party changer who doesn’t find his place and doesn’t understand his place, calls on the police to refuse an order. What would the same disgruntled man say about such a statement to the IDF soldiers when he was Chief of Staff? Do not threaten In a fratricidal war. You have lost power, internalize it.”
