‘Empress Woo’ starring Jeon Jong-seo is embroiled in controversy over its authenticity.
As soon as the main trailer for Queen Woo of the TVing was released on the 7th, controversy over historical accuracy arose. The costumes of Queen Woo Hee (Jeon Jong-seo) and Goguryeo’s Prime Minister Eulpaso (Kim Mu-yeol) were criticized for being Chinese-style. While Goguryeo’s Taewang wore a five-colored five-color robe, Woo Hee appeared in yellow, reminiscent of a Chinese emperor.
The Eulpaso costume had a right-hand closure, and the topknot was similar to the decoration of the hat in the Chinese historical drama “Romance of the Three Kingdoms.” Goguryeo clothes had a left-hand closure, and Goguryeo people at the time wore a feather-decorated “Jowoogwan.” Other characters’ hanbok also reminded people of Chinese clothing, not Goguryeo clothing. This drama is about Woo-hee who becomes the target of the princes and five tribes due to the sudden death of the king. Jung Yu-mi, Lee Soo-hyuk, Ji Chang-wook, and Park Ji-hwan are also scheduled to appear. It was produced by Andmark, Jeon Jong-seo’s agency.
