“This is the first time we have had to cancel a concert in 54 festival years. The park of the Château de Fontainebleau is magnificent but trees could have fallen on the public, ”says Jean-Pierre Guyard, president of the Django Reinhardt festival and co-organizer with the FBLO Festival of the Sting concert scheduled for Sunday evening.

Indeed, the British artist should have performed in the park of the imperial palace at 6 p.m. this Sunday, June 18. In the early afternoon, in view of the violent storms announced in Seine-et-Marne, the organizers, the prefecture, the firefighters and the town hall of Fontainebleau decided to cancel the event to preserve the safety of festival-goers. .

Some of them were already there when they learned of the cancellation. They were evacuated from the castle park before the weather situation deteriorated. “We were right to make this decision. With such gusts of wind, everyone would have panicked, ”continues Jean-Pierre Guyard.

Since then, the Fontainebleau tourist office as well as other event organizers in the department have received numerous requests concerning the terms of reimbursement. In a post on its Twitter account, concert organizer Live Nation says tickets are refundable. “We invite you to get closer to your point of sale,” he recommends to his customers.

For festival-goers who bought their tickets on the Django Reinhard festival website, the organizers say they will soon be able to submit their refund request online. They will have one month to complete the process.

In June 2022, bad weather caused significant material damage, injured seven people and led to the cancellation of several concerts at the Eurockéennes de Belfort. The same situation occurred at the We Love Green festival, organized in the Parc de Vincennes near Paris, where 40,000 festival-goers had been evacuated due to storms.
