Food Lion Recalls Mixed Vegetables and Super Sweet Cut Corn Due to Listeria Concerns

Saturday, Food Lion announced a recall of its Food Lion Mixed Vegetables and Food Lion Super Sweet Cut Corn due to potential Listeria Monocytogenes contamination. Customers are advised not to consume the affected products.

The grocery store chain stated that the recall specifically pertains to the following two items: Food Lion Mixed Vegetables, 16 ounces with UPC 0003582600509, purchased between January 19, 2023, and August 19, 2023, and Food Lion Super Sweet Cut Corn, 16 ounces with UPC 0003582607985, purchased between November 7, 2022, and August 19, 2023.

Individuals who have purchased these products or know someone who has are urged to return them to their local Food Lion store. The store will provide a refund equivalent to double the purchase price in accordance with Food Lion’s “Double Your Money Back Guarantee.”

This recall comes shortly after Food Lion’s ground beef recall in the previous month. However, the ground beef recall was limited to products prepared solely in the Zebulon and Knightdale stores.

Listeria Monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women infected with Listeria can experience miscarriages or stillbirths.

Food Lion regrets any inconvenience caused by this recall and advises customers to prioritize their health and safety. Consumers are encouraged to contact Food Lion directly for any further information or concerns regarding the recall.
