The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has announced that 85 percent of the Saudi food industry will be nationalized by 2030. This move is part of finding employment for more Saudi women and youth. Many foreigners working in this sector will lose their jobs due to this.

Saudi Arabia imports food products worth 70 billion riyals a year. The ministry also said that there will be a huge opportunity for entrepreneurs and small and medium investors in this sector. By 2025, the target is to increase date exports to 2.5 billion riyals, fish farming by 500 percent and exports to 3 billion riyals.
