Washington,

Taliban terrorists took control of the country after US troops withdrew from Afghanistan. Following this, a new interim government led by the Taliban is currently in place in Afghanistan. This state is not formally recognized by any of the nations of the world. Russia, China and Pakistan, meanwhile, are backing the Taliban.

The Taliban delegation met with representatives of countries including Iran and China at an international meeting in Moscow on October 20. During the talks, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called on the international community to provide financial assistance to Afghanistan to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.

Following the severe economic crisis and food shortages in Afghanistan, Russia has sent relief supplies weighing 36 tons in 3 planes on humanitarian grounds. The planes arrived in the Afghan capital, Kabul, yesterday.
