Massive food wastage at AIADMK conference in Madurai shocks viewers
Madurai witnessed a shocking incident of food wastage during the AIADMK conference held yesterday. Lakhs of volunteers from all districts of Tamil Nadu had gathered since morning for this conference, which was aimed at bringing together party members and supporters.
To ensure that the volunteers did not go hungry, the authorities had arranged for three halls with over a thousand cooks preparing sambar rice and tamarind rice. However, due to the negligence of the administrators, a large quantity of food (about 40 Anda) was dumped in the three halls, leaving many shocked and outraged.
Videos capturing the food wastage have been circulating widely, leading to widespread criticism of the organizers. Many viewers expressed their disappointment and anger at the lack of responsibility demonstrated by the organizers.
Ganapathi, in-charge of the conference catering, responded to the issue of food wastage, stating that food had been arranged in three counters for the volunteers. While two counters near the stage were heavily visited and quickly emptied, not many people were aware of the third counter located near the parking area. As a result, a significant amount of food was left untouched and ultimately wasted.
The incident has raised concerns about the lack of proper planning and communication by the organizers. Many argue that such a large quantity of food could have been better utilized by distributing it to the needy or ensuring that there was better coordination among the volunteers.
Food wastage is a pressing issue globally, with millions of tons of food being wasted each year. This incident serves as a reminder that even large-scale events like conferences should take measures to avoid such wastage and encourage responsible consumption.
