Two tons of vegetables and fruits are planned to be delivered by aviation to the village of Provideniya in Chukotka, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the administration of the city district.

The authorities decided to use the helicopter due to the tense situation with food in the village. For example, potatoes in Providence can only be bought at one outlet. It is planned that the helicopter will fly to the village on October 20.

Earlier, the head of the district, Roman Kopin, noted that navigation this year is very difficult, in July-September there were three times less ship calls than usual. The loading of the vessel “Vladimir Myasnikov” was postponed several times, now its arrival on the peninsula is expected on November 5-7.

According to the Department of Industrial Policy of the PrJSC, about 200 containers with various goods, as well as about 35 pieces of equipment for the needs of local enterprises, are still awaiting shipment to Chukotka in Vladivostok.

Now the regional authorities are negotiating with the FSUE “Rosmorport” on attracting an ice-class vessel to provide icebreaker assistance.
